Trump Claims Iran ‘About to Surrender’ in Call With G7 Leaders, Report Says

WASHINGTON, March 13 — US President Donald Trump reportedly told leaders from the Group of Seven (G7) that Iran is “about to surrender,” according to a report that cited three officials who were briefed on the call.

The comments were reportedly made during a virtual meeting with G7 leaders earlier this week, where the US president discussed developments in the ongoing Middle East conflict involving Iran and its regional adversaries.

Claim Emerges During Ongoing War

Trump’s remarks come amid an intensifying conflict between Iran and a coalition involving the United States and Israel, which has triggered widespread instability across the region. The war has included airstrikes on Iranian military sites and retaliatory missile and drone attacks targeting regional infrastructure and military positions.

According to the report, Trump suggested during the call that Iran’s position in the war had weakened significantly and that the country could be nearing capitulation. However, officials did not provide details explaining the basis for the president’s assessment.

No Confirmation From Tehran

As of now, there has been no confirmation from Iranian authorities regarding Trump’s claim that the country is close to surrendering.

In previous statements, Iranian leaders have rejected US demands for unconditional surrender, insisting that the country will continue resisting foreign military pressure.

The conflicting narratives highlight the uncertainty surrounding the conflict’s trajectory as both sides continue to exchange attacks.

War Driving Global Concerns

The escalating war has raised alarm worldwide due to its impact on energy markets, security, and global trade routes.

Attacks on key energy infrastructure and fears over disruptions to shipping routes in the Persian Gulf have pushed oil prices above US$100 per barrel, fueling volatility in global financial markets.

Analysts warn that prolonged hostilities could further destabilise the region and affect international economic conditions.

International Leaders Watching Closely

Leaders from the G7 countries — which include the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Japan — have been coordinating closely on responses to the crisis, including diplomatic and economic measures.

While Trump’s claim suggests that the conflict may be nearing a decisive stage, experts say the situation remains highly unpredictable and could still escalate further depending on developments on the battlefield.

For now, the international community continues to monitor the conflict closely as calls grow for diplomatic solutions to prevent a wider regional war.
