Kuala Lumpur — Liverpool F.C. were denied a crucial victory after Tottenham Hotspur F.C. scored a dramatic late equaliser to secure a 1–1 draw in their Premier League match at Anfield on Sunday.
Liverpool opened the scoring in the 18th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai fired a free-kick that slipped past Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, giving the home side an early advantage.
Despite dominating possession and creating several chances, Liverpool struggled to extend their lead in the second half. Tottenham gradually grew into the match and continued to threaten on the counterattack.
The visitors were finally rewarded in the 90th minute, when Richarlison scored a late equaliser, silencing the Anfield crowd and earning Spurs a valuable point in their fight to move away from the relegation zone.
The draw was also significant for Tottenham’s interim manager Igor Tudor, as it marked his first point in charge of the club. Meanwhile, Liverpool dropped valuable points in the race for Champions League qualification after conceding yet another late goal this season.
Following the result, Liverpool remain in the battle for the Premier League top four, while Tottenham gained a crucial point that could help their survival hopes in the league.
