49‑Year‑Old Man Arrested In Kluang After Social‑Media Acquaintance Allegedly Molested Single Mother

KLUANG, El Sky News – A 49‑year‑old man has been arrested by the police after allegedly molesting a woman he had recently befriended via social media. The incident reportedly took place around 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 4 November, in Kluang, Johor.

The victim, a single mother in her late 40s, claimed she met the suspect about a month prior through a social‑media platform. The two arranged to meet, and during a ride in her car the suspect allegedly committed the offence at two different locations in the town.

The arrest was made shortly after the complainant lodged a police report two days later, on 6 November. The suspect was detained at a residence on Jalan Seladang 16, in Taman Mewah, Kulai.

According to Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh of the Kluang district police, the suspect has no prior criminal record and drug screening returned a negative result. The investigation is proceeding under Section 354 of the Penal Code for use of criminal force to outrage a person’s modesty, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.

The victim was reported to be in a stable condition after seeking medical attention. The police are continuing their investigations to determine whether any further charges (e.g., sexual harassment or threats) will be filed.

In a statement, the police urged the public to exercise caution when meeting individuals they meet online, especially avoiding secluded places and unaccompanied meetings. At present, the suspect has been remanded for four days to facilitate investigation
