Kelantan, El Sky News – Thirteen individuals, including one woman, have been remanded by the police for their suspected involvement in an illegal gathering outside the Kelantan State Palace in Kubang Kerian, Kota Bharu, yesterday.
According to an official statement from the Kelantan Police, the gathering took place in the morning and involved participants holding placards and demanding action from state authorities. Immediate action was taken by the police on duty to maintain public safety and prevent any unlawful activities.
“All individuals are currently remanded to assist investigations under Sections 143 and 147 of the Penal Code related to illegal assembly,” said the responsible police officer.
Further checks revealed that five participants tested positive for drugs through on-site urine tests, including one of the women remanded. Authorities highlighted that drug use can escalate the risk and severity of incidents during gatherings and will be investigated under existing drug control laws.
All remanded individuals will be brought to court for further remand proceedings, while investigations continue to identify the main organizers and the actual purpose of the assembly. Police also advise the public to avoid participating in illegal gatherings that may compromise public safety or violate the law.
