KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News – The Malaysian government has officially approved the development of a single national application designed to integrate all public electric vehicle (EV) chargers across the country into one seamless digital ecosystem.
The project, announced jointly by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), aims to eliminate fragmentation in the EV charging sector by introducing a centralized platform known as “e-MSP” (Electronic Mobility Service Provider).
According to NRES Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, the initiative follows months of cross-agency coordination involving the Energy Commission (ST) and the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) to streamline Malaysia’s electric mobility infrastructure.
“We want Malaysian EV users to enjoy charging convenience through a single, integrated platform without the need for multiple apps or incompatible systems,” said Nik Nazmi during a press conference in Putrajaya.
The new platform will consolidate real-time data from multiple EV charging networks, allowing users to view charger availability, pricing, and locations, and to make payments through a single interface.
Implementation will be led by GreenTech Malaysia, with technical collaboration from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and PLUS Malaysia Berhad. The first phase is expected to launch in Q2 2026, connecting over 3,000 public EV chargers nationwide.
This project aligns with Malaysia’s Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint 2021–2030, which targets 70% of new vehicle sales to be electric by 2040. Analysts say the unified system could strengthen investor confidence in Malaysia’s clean-energy sector and position the nation as a regional EV hub in Southeast Asia.
