The incident, captured on video, has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread concern over safety standards in adventure tourism in the region.

According to eyewitness reports, the victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was secured by safety harnesses but fell several meters before being rescued by emergency personnel stationed nearby. The tourist was immediately rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that the injuries are serious but stable.

“This is a very serious incident,” said Rishikesh Tourism Safety Officer Anil Sharma. “We are investigating the equipment, operational procedures, and certification of the service provider to ensure such accidents do not happen again.”

The bungee jump site, popular among both domestic and international tourists, operates with multiple safety measures, including trained staff, harnesses, and emergency response teams. However, locals and tourists have expressed concern about whether maintenance protocols and equipment inspections are consistently followed.

Social media platforms have widely shared the video of the fall, triggering debates about the safety of adventure tourism activities and regulatory oversight. The Rishikesh Tourism Development Board has promised a thorough investigation and stricter monitoring of all extreme sports operations in the area.

Authorities have urged tourists to exercise caution and verify the credentials of adventure service providers before participating in high-risk activities.
