Switzerland Secures Sixth Consecutive World Cup Qualification

Kosovo, El Sky News – Switzerland has officially booked its place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking its sixth straight appearance on football’s biggest stage. The national team completed their European qualifying campaign at the top of Group B, maintaining an unbeaten record throughout the round. Their consistent performance across all matches ensured that they remained in control of the group from start to finish.

The decisive moment arrived in their final qualifier, where Switzerland earned a 1–1 draw against Kosovo. Ruben Vargas opened the scoring early in the second half, before Kosovo’s Florent Muslija struck an equaliser with a well-placed curling effort. Despite the draw, Switzerland’s earlier results had already put them in a comfortable position, confirming their qualification regardless of the final-day outcome.

A major turning point in their campaign came from a dominant 4–1 victory over Sweden. In that match, Breel Embolo scored the opener, Granit Xhaka converted from the penalty spot, and further goals from Dan Ndoye and Johan Manzambi sealed a convincing win. The result not only showcased Switzerland’s attacking depth but also provided a crucial goal-difference advantage in the group standings.

Team captain Granit Xhaka praised his squad for maintaining discipline and focus throughout the qualifiers, emphasising the importance of consistency in such a competitive European field. With their place secured, Switzerland now turns its attention to preparations for the 2026 World Cup, aiming to build on their reputation as one of Europe’s most resilient and steady-performing national teams.
