Siri now ‘understands’ Malay better: Apple Intelligence begins Beta support in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News – Tech giant Apple has officially expanded the boundaries of its artificial intelligence by introducing Malay language support for Apple Intelligence features in its beta phase. This move marks a major development for the Apple device ecosystem in Malaysia, enabling more natural interactions between users and their devices.

This rollout sees Apple Intelligence providing broader language support, allowing the virtual assistant Siri to understand local context and dialects significantly better than before.

Exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 Series

However, these advanced features are not available for all models. Users in Malaysia owning the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the latest iPhone 16 series can now begin experiencing this AI firsthand.

The update is released through the latest version of iOS, where users must set their device language to Malay to allow the system to begin testing its local language processing capabilities.

What can users expect?

With Malay language support integrated into the AI context, users are expected to enjoy several smart functions, including:

  • Writing Tools: Helping users correct grammar or change the tone of their writing in Malay with higher accuracy.
  • Smarter Siri: The virtual assistant is now more adept at understanding commands in local dialects, making it more responsive to the requests of Malaysian users.
  • Smart Summaries: The system’s ability to automatically summarize long emails or messages written in Malay.

Beta Status: Testing in progress

It is important to note that this support is still in the Beta stage, meaning Apple is actively collecting data to refine the language’s accuracy. Users may encounter minor errors in translation or contextual understanding during this early phase before the full version is officially launched later.

Industry observers view Apple’s move as a serious effort to compete with other smartphone brands that already offer AI integration in the native languages of users across the Southeast Asian region.
