PURBALINGGA (INDONESIA), El Sky News – An elderly woman endured the darkest moment of her life when she became the victim of an armed robbery in her own home in Purbalingga, Central Java, recently.
In the incident that occurred around 3:30 AM, the victim, identified as Rasinah, 56, had reportedly just finished showering. To her absolute horror, she found an unidentified man already inside her bedroom holding a weapon.
The suspect, who broke in during the early hours of the morning, proceeded to threaten the victim before ransacking the room for valuables.
As a result of the incident, the victim suffered a significant loss as 40 grams of gold jewelry and a sum of cash were swept away by the robber.
“The victim was completely shell-shocked and did not have time to react as the suspect was already waiting in the bedroom the moment she stepped out of the bathroom,” local media reported.
Indonesian police are currently reported to be conducting an intensive investigation to track down the identity of the suspect, who managed to escape immediately after the incident. The scene in Purbalingga is being monitored to assist in the collection of evidence and fingerprints.
The incident has sparked concern among local residents regarding the level of security in the neighborhood, especially during the early morning hours. The public is advised to always ensure that doors and windows are properly locked to prevent such incidents from recurring.
