SEREMBAN, El Sky News– Two police officers sustained injuries after their patrol vehicle was involved in an accident at Kilometer 262.2 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS), near the Seremban/Port Dickson exit, early Saturday morning.
The incident, which occurred during a routine surveillance operation, involved a Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) unit from the Seremban District Police Headquarters (IPD).
According to preliminary reports, the patrol car was traveling southbound when the driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle. This caused the car to veer off its path and collide with the highway divider. The impact resulted in significant damage to the police vehicle and caused various injuries to both personnel on board.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash, and the two officers were immediately transported to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital (HTJ) in Seremban for medical treatment. While the extent of their injuries is being monitored, both are reported to be in stable condition.
Seremban District Police confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the crash has been launched under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to careless and inconsiderate driving.
Local authorities have issued a call for any witnesses who were traveling along the stretch of the highway during the time of the incident to come forward. Public cooperation is deemed essential to reconstruct the events leading up to the accident.
Traffic flow on the expressway, which was briefly disrupted to facilitate the removal of the wreckage and cleanup operations, has since returned to normal.
