KUALA LUMPUR – A devastating fire razed four residential houses along Jalan Gunung Keriang on Thursday evening, leaving several families in shock as they watched their homes succumb to the flames.
The Kedah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call regarding the incident at approximately 5:30 PM. Firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene to prevent the blaze from spreading to adjacent properties.
Rapid Response According to a spokesperson from the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department, teams from the Alor Setar and Jalan Perak fire stations were deployed to the site. Upon arrival, the fire had already intensified, engulfing a significant portion of the wooden and semi-brick structures.
“Our personnel worked swiftly to contain the fire, which was fueled by the dry weather and the close proximity of the houses. Fortunately, the fire was brought under control within 45 minutes,” the spokesperson stated.
No Casualties Reported Initial reports indicate that all residents managed to escape the buildings in time. No injuries or fatalities were reported during the incident, although the occupants were unable to save most of their belongings due to the speed at which the fire spread.
One of the affected residents, still in visible distress, shared that the fire seemed to originate from one of the middle units before rapidly spreading to the neighbors.
Investigation Underway The total estimated losses are still being calculated, and the forensics team from the Fire and Rescue Department has been called in to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
Local authorities have advised residents to remain vigilant regarding electrical safety and fire hazards, especially during the current dry spell. Temporary shelter arrangements for the displaced families are currently being coordinated by local community leaders.
