Interpol Coordination Nets Three ‘Captain Praba’ Gang Members Following Deportation from India

Kuala Lumpur,El Sky News – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have successfully dismantled a key cell of the notorious “Captain Praba” organized crime syndicate following the high-profile deportation and subsequent charging of three Malaysian nationals.

The Extradition Operation

The suspects—identified as Sridharan Subramaniam, Pratifkumar Selvaraj, and Navindren Raj Cumarason—were handed over to Malaysian authorities by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday. The operation was the culmination of a months-long intelligence-sharing initiative between the National Central Bureaus (NCB) of New Delhi and Kuala Lumpur.

The trio had reportedly fled to India to evade local enforcement after their criminal activities in the Sepang district drew intense police scrutiny between 2023 and 2025.

Court Proceedings

Escorted under heavy security, the men appeared before the Sepang Sessions Court on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. They were officially charged under Section 130V(1) of the Penal Code, which specifically targets individuals for being members of an organized criminal group.

If convicted, the suspects face a significant prison sentence ranging from five to twenty years.

A Blow to Organized Crime

The “Captain Praba Gang” has long been on the radar of Malaysian enforcement for their alleged involvement in various illicit activities across the Klang Valley. A senior PDRM official noted that this successful deportation sends a “stern warning” to Malaysian criminals seeking refuge abroad.

“The long arm of the law does not stop at our borders. This case proves that our strategic partnership with international agencies like the CBI and Interpol is more effective than ever,” the statement read.

Bilateral Success

The Indian CBI described the deportation process as “seamless,” highlighting the growing synergy between India and Malaysia in tackling transnational crime. The court has set a later date for the mention of the case to allow for further submission of documents, while the suspects remain in custody without bail due to the nature of the security-related charges.
