Two More Women Detained in Connection with Indah Permai Dismemberment Case

KUALA LUMPUR — Police have intensified their investigation into the gruesome murder of a woman whose dismembered remains were discovered at a garbage disposal site in Indah Permai, Manggatal, last Thursday.

In the latest development, authorities confirmed the arrest of two local women, aged 21 and 29, earlier today. The suspects were picked up during separate raids in the Sepanggar and Inanam areas.

Acting Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief, Superintendent Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman, stated that the two women are believed to be the daughters of the primary suspect.

“They have been detained to assist in the investigation, specifically to determine their potential involvement or knowledge regarding the incident,” Syed Lot said in a statement released today.

These latest arrests bring the total number of individuals in custody to four. The timeline of the police crackdown includes:

  • Thursday: A 71-year-old local man (the primary suspect) was apprehended at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Emergency Unit.
  • Subsequent Action: A 19-year-old local male was detained in Sepanggar.

In addition to the arrests, police have seized several items believed to be linked to the crime. The confiscated evidence includes mobile phones, clothing, a pair of gloves, a machete, and a Nissan X-Trail vehicle.

The case first came to light last Thursday around 7:00 AM when several body parts belonging to a woman were found discarded in multiple locations within the Indah Permai landfill.

The motive behind the brutal killing remains under investigation. Authorities are currently treating the matter as a murder case under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or a lengthy prison sentence and caning upon conviction.
