Malaysia Reaches Full Hajj Quota for 2026; Appeal Window to Close as Departure Dates Set

KUALA LUMPUR – Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH), Malaysia’s national pilgrim fund board, has officially confirmed that the country’s Hajj quota for the 1447H/2026M season is now fully subscribed. A total of 31,600 slots have been allocated to Malaysian pilgrims, marking a significant milestone in the administrative preparations for the upcoming pilgrimage season.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Tabung Haji Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mustakim Mohamad, announced that due to the overwhelming response and the successful filling of all available spots, the window for Hajj appeals will formally close on the 1st of Ramadan 1447H.

Mustakim highlighted a notable improvement in the efficiency of this year’s offer process. He attributed the streamlined operations to proactive measures and early notifications sent to prospective pilgrims, which encouraged them to finalize their preparations well in advance.

Data from the board reveals a sharp decline in the number of pilgrims requesting to postpone their trips.

“This year, we observed a much lower deferment rate of approximately 18%, a significant drop compared to the roughly 50% recorded in the previous season,” Mustakim stated.

This shift has allowed the board to stabilize the final list of travelers much faster than in previous years, ensuring that the logistics for transportation and accommodation in Saudi Arabia can be finalized without delay.

Despite the quota being met, the demand remains exceptionally high. Tabung Haji reported receiving approximately 85,000 appeals from individuals hoping to secure a spot. While the door for new appeals will shut on the first day of Ramadan, Mustakim reassured the public that those who submitted their requests prior to the deadline remain under consideration.

Should any last-minute vacancies arise—either through health-related cancellations or unforeseen deferments—the board will draw from the existing pool of appellants. The selection process will adhere to a strict merit-based system, ensuring that those with the highest eligibility and seniority in the waiting list are given priority.

With the administrative phase nearing completion, Tabung Haji has also released the flight schedule for the 2026 season:

  • First Flight: Scheduled to depart for the Holy Land on April 18, 2026.
  • Final Flight: Expected to depart on May 20, 2026.
  • Day of Wukuf: Projected to take place on May 26, 2026.

The board has expressed its gratitude to all prospective pilgrims for their patience and cooperation. As the first group of Malaysian travelers prepares to embark on their spiritual journey in just two months, Tabung Haji remains committed to ensuring that all welfare and security protocols are strictly followed to provide a seamless experience for the nation’s pilgrims.
