Police Neutralize Armed Robbery Gang and Track Cross-Dressing Burglar in Shah Alam

KUALA LUMPUR – Authorities in Selangor have successfully dismantled a criminal group linked to a violent street robbery, while simultaneously launching a manhunt for a separate, highly unusual intruder who utilized a feminine disguise to infiltrate a residential property.

The Shah Alam District Police confirmed the arrest of six individuals—five men and one woman—following a terrifying armed robbery in Section 7. The suspects, aged between their 20s and 40s, were apprehended during a coordinated raid at approximately 9:00 PM on February 16, shortly after the crime occurred.

According to Shah Alam Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ramsay Embol, the incident took place around 5:30 AM along Jalan Plumbum. The victim, an Indonesian national, was targeted while she was performing the routine task of taking out the trash.

The assailants, traveling in a distinctive red Perodua Axia, confronted the woman at knife-point. While the physical losses were estimated to be between RM350 and RM500, the brazen nature of the crime—captured on camera and widely circulated on social media—prompted immediate public alarm.

“We acted swiftly based on the viral footage and forensic evidence gathered at the scene,” said ACP Ramsay. “Along with the six arrests, we have also impounded the red vehicle used during the commission of the crime.”

The suspects are currently being investigated under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code, which cover gang robbery and robbery while armed with a deadly weapon. If convicted, the perpetrators face significant prison time and mandatory caning.

In an unrelated but equally concerning case in the same district, police are analyzing CCTV footage to identify a male suspect who went to extreme lengths to blend into his surroundings.

On February 18, a home in Section 7 was breached while the occupants—two women in their 20s—were away. Surveillance footage revealed a man wearing a traditional headscarf (hijab) and carrying a woman’s handbag. The suspect was seen scaling a security grille to reposition an outdoor CCTV camera in an attempt to hide his movements.

“The suspect used the disguise specifically to avoid raising suspicion among neighbors,” ACP Ramsay explained. Although the house was found in complete disarray, suggesting a frantic search for valuables, the tenants reported that no items were actually missing.

This case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for lurking house-trespass or house-breaking.

The Shah Alam police have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior, particularly in the Section 7 area.

Individuals with any information regarding the identity of the cross-dressing burglar or further details on the Jalan Plumbum robbery are encouraged to contact Investigating Officer Insp Mohamad Sabri Abd Rani at 017-2892628 or visit the nearest police station.
