Police Hunt Four Suspects in Shah Alam Mosque Donation Box Theft

KUALA LUMPUR – The Shah Alam District Police have launched an intensive investigation to track down four local men linked to a daring theft involving a donation box at the Seksyen 7 Mosque on Jalan Kristal, which occurred early Sunday morning.

The incident, which has sparked concern among the local community, was confirmed by Shah Alam District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramsay Embol. According to preliminary police findings, the crime took place at approximately 4:00 AM, a time when the mosque premises were relatively quiet.

Witness accounts and early intelligence suggest that the group of four suspects arrived and fled the scene in a silver Toyota Avanza. While the make and color of the vehicle have been identified, investigators are still working to verify the license plate number, which was not clearly captured or identified during the escape.

The theft was brought to official attention after a security guard on duty, a local man in his 30s, discovered the missing donation box and lodged a formal police report at 10:36 AM the same day.

“Our forensic and investigative teams have conducted an initial sweep of the location. We have confirmed that the mosque is equipped with a comprehensive Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) network,” said ACP Ramsay Embol in a statement released on Monday. He added that the authorities are currently in the process of analyzing the digital recordings provided by the mosque management to establish the identities of the suspects.

The police are treating the matter with high priority, classifying the case under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which pertains to theft within a building or dwelling. This offense carries a heavy legal penalty, including a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years and a mandatory fine upon conviction.

As the manhunt continues, the police are calling on the public to assist in the investigation. Residents in the Seksyen 7 area or motorists who may have been nearby at 4:00 AM on Sunday with active dashcam recordings are encouraged to come forward.
