Mercedes‑Benz Unveils Nightfall Edition for GLA200 & GLA250 in Malaysia — AMG‑Styled Compact SUVs From RM258,888

KUALA LUMPUR, March 3 — Mercedes‑Benz Malaysia has launched the 2026 Nightfall Edition of its GLA200 and GLA250 compact SUVs, bringing with them enhanced AMG‑inspired design elements and a richer equipment list while retaining the familiar powertrain options and competitive pricing.

Both Nightfall Edition models remain attractively priced on‑the‑road without insurance — RM258,888 for the GLA200 Nightfall and RM295,888 for the GLA250 Nightfall — and include a four‑year unlimited‑mileage warranty, positioning them as premium yet accessible offerings in Malaysia’s compact SUV segment.

The headline feature of the Nightfall variants is the broadened availability of the AMG Line kit across both models. Previously, only the GLA250 received the sportier AMG Line aesthetic, while the GLA200 came with a more subdued Progressive Line look. Under the Nightfall umbrella, both SUVs gain an aggressive front bumper, a diffuser‑style rear valance and cross‑drilled sports brakes, lending a more dynamic presence on the road.

Exterior enhancements also include the Night Package, which applies glossy black finishes to key trim elements such as the grille bar, front lip spoiler, side skirts, roof rails, mirror caps and exhaust tips — creating a darker, more cohesive visual theme. The GLA200 rides on 19‑inch five‑split‑spoke AMG wheels in a black‑accented finish, while the GLA250 ups the ante with larger 20‑inch black multi‑spoke wheels and Multibeam LED matrix projector headlights, a premium lighting upgrade over the LED reflector lamps on the 200.

Inside, the Nightfall Edition brings notable comfort and convenience enhancements. The GLA200 now receives features previously reserved for the GLA250, including Artico faux leather and microfibre upholstery, an AMG Nappa leather steering wheel, sports‑style seats, brushed aluminium trim and alloy pedals. Both models also debut Thermotronic dual‑zone automatic climate control — finally adding rear vents — along with a 360‑degree camera for better all‑around visibility.

Standard equipment across both Nightfall models includes the MBUX infotainment system with twin 10.25‑inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Qi wireless charging, keyless entry and push‑button start, power‑adjustable front seats with memory function, 64‑colour ambient lighting, park assist and a hands‑free powered tailgate. Safety features cover seven airbags, stability control and driver assists such as autonomous emergency braking, blind‑spot monitoring and auto high beam. The GLA250 adds adaptive high‑beam assist and pre‑installed hardware for adaptive cruise control (available via subscription).

Mechanically, the Nightfall versions retain the familiar engines that have powered the GLA range. The GLA200 runs with a 1.3‑litre turbocharged four‑cylinder producing 163 PS and 250 Nm of torque, paired with a 7‑speed dual‑clutch transmission driving the front wheels. The GLA250 continues with its 2.0‑litre turbo four‑cylinder enhanced by a 48‑volt belt‑driven starter‑generator, generating a total output similar to 238 PS and 350 Nm, coupled with an 8‑speed dual‑clutch gearbox and 4Matic all‑wheel‑drive.

The introduction of the Nightfall Edition reflects Mercedes‑Benz Malaysia’s intent to keep the ageing GLA competitive and appealing as the brand’s next‑generation electric successor remains at least a year away from local launch. By adding design flair, comfort improvements and equipment uplift while keeping prices unchanged, the Nightfall Edition targets buyers who want a more engaging and premium compact SUV experience.
