Early Morning Fire Destroys Household Convenience Store in Kajang

KUALA LUMPUR – A massive fire completely razed a convenience store specializing in household goods in Kajang early Friday morning. The incident, which occurred near a local restaurant, triggered a rapid response from the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM).

The Selangor JBPM operations center received an emergency call regarding the blaze at 4:41 AM on Friday, March 6, 2026. Recognizing the potential for the fire to spread to nearby commercial structures, firefighting teams were dispatched immediately.

According to Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, Assistant Director of Operations for Selangor JBPM, the first fire engine arrived at the scene within just seven minutes.

“The affected premises is a Class B building. Our priority upon arrival was to contain the flames and ensure the fire did not spread to the adjacent restaurant and other nearby shops,” Mukhtar stated in an official report.

Despite the intensity of the blaze, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far. The store was reportedly closed at the time the fire broke out, preventing any potential loss of life.

Firefighters successfully brought the fire under control before it could cause further damage to the surrounding business hub. The site has been cordoned off as a safety precaution while the JBPM Forensics Unit begins its investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire—whether it was due to an electrical short circuit or other factors.

Local business owners are reminded to ensure their fire safety systems and wiring are up to date to prevent similar tragedies.
