KUALA LUMPUR – Apple is reportedly developing its first-ever touchscreen MacBook Pro, signaling a major strategic shift for the tech giant after years of resisting the integration of touch capabilities into its laptop lineup.
According to a report by Bloomberg, the upcoming model is expected to feature a vibrant OLED display, marking a significant upgrade from current screen technologies. In addition to the touchscreen interface, the new MacBook Pro is rumored to replace its traditional notch with a redesigned camera system featuring “Dynamic Island,” a popular feature currently found on higher-end iPhone models.
To support this hardware evolution, Apple is said to be overhauling the macOS user interface to make it more touch-friendly. Potential changes include larger control elements, support for pinch-to-zoom gestures, and fast scrolling capabilities. The system is also expected to intelligently adapt its display controls depending on whether the user is interacting via touch or a traditional mouse.
Before the launch of the touchscreen model, Apple is anticipated to release a refresh of the current MacBook Pro lineup featuring the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. This interim update will focus primarily on performance enhancements without major design alterations.
