‘WE WON’: TRUMP SAYS IRAN WAR WAS OVER IN FIRST HOUR BUT US STAYING TO ‘FINISH THE JOB’

March 12 — US President Donald Trump said the war against Iran had effectively been decided in its opening moments, claiming that American forces had already secured victory during the first hour of the conflict.

Speaking at a campaign-style rally in Hebron, Kentucky, Trump told supporters that the United States had already achieved a decisive advantage early in the fighting.

“You never like to say too early you won. We won,” Trump said, adding that the outcome of the conflict had been largely determined at the start of the military campaign.

Despite his claim of early victory, Trump made it clear that the United States would continue military operations in order to fully achieve its strategic objectives.

“We don’t want to leave early, do we? We’ve got to finish the job,” he told the crowd, suggesting that American forces would remain involved in the conflict for the time being.

Heavy Damage to Iranian Naval Forces

Trump also claimed that US forces had inflicted major damage on Iran’s military, including the destruction of dozens of Iranian naval vessels.

According to the president, American operations had knocked out 58 Iranian ships, significantly weakening the country’s naval capabilities.

He added that the United States had “virtually destroyed Iran,” describing the early phase of the conflict as overwhelmingly successful for American forces.

The war began after a series of coordinated military strikes by the United States and its allies targeting Iranian military facilities and strategic infrastructure.

Mixed Signals on War Timeline

While Trump celebrated what he described as a decisive early victory, his comments also highlighted uncertainty over how long the conflict might continue.

In previous remarks, the president suggested the war could end soon, but he has also emphasised that the United States must ensure that Iran’s military threat is permanently neutralised before withdrawing forces.

Analysts say the conflicting signals reflect the delicate balance the administration faces between demonstrating military strength and avoiding a prolonged conflict.

Wider Regional Tensions Continue

The war between the United States and Iran has already triggered significant instability across the Middle East.

Military strikes and retaliatory attacks have affected multiple countries in the region, while global markets have reacted to concerns about energy supply disruptions and broader geopolitical risks.

Security experts warn that the conflict could continue to evolve depending on Iran’s response and the involvement of regional allies.

For now, the United States appears determined to maintain its military campaign until it believes the mission has been fully completed.
