2026 Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV Debuts with 800V Architecture, 330 kW Fast Charging and Up to 800 km Range

KUALA LUMPUR, April, 2026 — Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the all-electric 2026 C-Class (W520 generation), a major milestone in the brand’s electrification strategy as it moves deeper into the premium electric sedan segment.

Built on a dedicated MB.EA electric platform, the new C-Class EV is designed to compete directly with upcoming electric rivals such as the BMW i3, offering a combination of luxury, performance, and long-distance capability.

The new C-Class EV is underpinned by an advanced 800-volt electrical system, enabling significantly faster charging speeds and improved energy efficiency compared to conventional 400V platforms.

Key performance highlights include:

  • Dual-motor all-wheel-drive system (C400 4MATIC variant)
  • Output of up to 360 kW (approximately 489 hp)
  • Torque of around 800 Nm
  • 0–100 km/h acceleration in approximately 4.0 seconds
  • Top speed of around 210 km/h

The platform also incorporates a two-speed transmission on the rear motor, improving both acceleration and high-speed efficiency.

One of the most significant highlights of the new C-Class EV is its impressive driving range.

Depending on configuration, the vehicle offers:

  • Up to 762 km WLTP range in dual-motor variants
  • Estimated up to 800 km range in optimized rear-wheel-drive versions

This makes it one of the longest-range electric sedans in its segment, addressing one of the biggest concerns in EV adoption — range anxiety.

The 800V architecture enables ultra-fast charging performance:

  • Up to 330 kW DC fast charging support
  • 10–80% charge in approximately 22 minutes
  • Ability to gain up to 325 km of range in just 10 minutes under optimal conditions

This places the C-Class EV among the fastest-charging electric vehicles in its class.

The C-Class EV is built on the Mercedes-Benz Electric Architecture (MB.EA), which prioritizes efficiency, space optimization, and aerodynamic performance.

Key engineering features include:

  • Front motor disconnect system to reduce energy loss
  • Lightweight EV-specific chassis design
  • Drag coefficient optimized to improve efficiency
  • Rear-axle steering for enhanced agility and stability
  • Air suspension system with adaptive damping

These innovations help balance sporty performance with long-distance comfort.

Inside, the new C-Class EV continues Mercedes-Benz’s focus on premium digital experiences.

Expected features include:

  • Large MBUX Hyperscreen spanning the dashboard
  • AI-powered infotainment system integrating ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Microsoft AI tools
  • Augmented reality navigation display
  • Premium materials such as Nappa leather and sustainable interior options
  • Advanced ambient lighting system
  • High-end Burmester surround sound system

The cabin is designed to blend traditional luxury with futuristic digital interaction.

The vehicle is equipped with advanced safety technologies, including:

  • Up to 27 sensors and cameras
  • Enhanced autonomous driving assistance (MB.Drive Assist Pro)
  • Lane keeping, adaptive cruise control, and automated parking
  • Predictive safety systems linked to navigation data

These features aim to move the C-Class closer to semi-autonomous driving capabilities.

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV will play a key role in Mercedes’ strategy to expand its electric lineup and strengthen its position in the premium EV market.

It is expected to compete directly with:

  • BMW i3 (next-generation electric sedan)
  • Tesla Model 3 Performance (high-end variants)
  • Audi A4 e-tron (future model)

The focus is clearly on luxury, range, and charging speed, rather than just affordability.

The launch of the 2026 Mercedes-Benz C-Class EV (W520) marks a major evolution for one of the brand’s most iconic nameplates.

With its 800V architecture, ultra-fast 330 kW charging, and up to 800 km driving range, the new C-Class EV sets a new benchmark in the electric luxury sedan segment.

As Mercedes-Benz continues its transition toward full electrification, the C-Class EV represents a critical step in shaping the future of premium mobility — combining performance, efficiency, and advanced digital intelligence in one package.
