RTM & Unifi TV Named Official Broadcasters for FIFA World Cup 2026 in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, — The Malaysian government has appointed Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and Unifi TV as the official broadcasters for the FIFA World Cup 2026 to ensure every Malaysian can enjoy the world’s biggest football tournament through legitimate, high-quality, and inclusive channels.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced the decision today, saying it was made through a strategic collaboration between the government and the private sector to deliver comprehensive coverage nationwide.

Broadcasting Details

  • Unifi TV will broadcast all 104 matches live.
  • RTM will air the majority of the matches either live or delayed.
  • Free-to-air viewing will be available via MyTV, while digital access is offered through RTM Klik and Unifi TV’s OTT platforms.

“Fans will have a variety of options to watch the games,” Fahmi said during the weekly press conference at Angkasapuri.

The Grandstand programme will be produced from Angkasapuri, primarily in Bahasa Malaysia with some segments in English. Latest updates will also be featured on Selamat Pagi Malaysia. Public viewing events will be organised at selected locations to boost fan engagement.

Cost & Sponsorship

The government has allocated RM24 million for this initiative. Fahmi added that several major sponsors have been identified and are being finalised, with an official announcement expected soon.

Anti-Piracy Warning

Fahmi strongly urged the public and all parties to avoid illegal streams and piracy, emphasising that enforcement actions will be intensified against violators.

He expressed hope that the World Cup will unite Malaysians through the spirit of sport and togetherness.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. It kicks off on June 11, 2026 in Mexico City and the final will be held on July 19, 2026 in New Jersey.
