Selangor Fall to Persib Bandung Despite Early Lead in AFC Champions League Two Clash

KELANA JAYA, El Sky News — Selangor FC suffered a narrow 2-3 defeat to Indonesia’s Persib Bandung in their final Group G match of the AFC Champions League Two at MBPJ Stadium on Wednesday night, despite taking an early two-goal lead.

The Red Giants started strongly when Chrigor Moraes opened the scoring in the 3rd minute. Their advantage doubled in the 17th minute following an own goal by Persib defender Patricio Matricardi, putting Selangor in full control during the first half.

However, the second half told a different story. Persib responded quickly through Andrew Jung, who reduced the deficit in the 49th minute. The visitors continued to press, and Adam Alis equalised in the 81st minute before sealing victory with his second goal in stoppage time after a defensive lapse by Selangor.

The defeat was a tough blow for Selangor, who showed early dominance but were unable to maintain their momentum in the closing stages. The result left Persib at the top of Group G with 10 points, while Selangor concluded their campaign without a win.

Although Selangor exited the competition, their spirited first-half display reflected determination and attacking intent, offering positives for their domestic campaign ahead.
