Jakarta, El Sky News – Indonesian musician and vocalist of the band NOAH, Ariel (Nazril Irham), has been officially announced to play the character of Dilan in two upcoming films titled Dilan ITB 1997 and Dilan Amsterdam. The announcement was made by the production company Falcon Pictures together with writer Pidi Baiq.
These new films will portray Dilan in a more mature phase of his life. In Dilan ITB 1997, the story focuses on Dilan as a university student at the Bandung Institute of Technology, while Dilan Amsterdam continues his journey abroad. This marks a significant shift from the earlier high-school-era adaptations.
Ariel stated that taking the role was not an easy decision, as the character of Dilan is already deeply embedded in the hearts of audiences. However, he eventually agreed to take part in the project after careful consideration.
Filming for the new Dilan movies is scheduled to begin in December 2025, with releases planned for 2026. The rest of the cast has not yet been officially announced.
Based on the timeline of the Dilan series, Dilan in the 1997 setting would be around 24 years old, representing the adult phase of the character’s development.
