GEORGE TOWN, Penang, 1 November 2025 – The “Penang Hawkers & Street Food” themed edition of the Penang International Food Festival returned with a bang, launching its three‑weekend celebration at the historic Armenian Park in the heart of George Town’s heritage zone.
Organised by the office of the Lim Hui Ying (Deputy Finance Minister & MP for Tanjong) and endorsed by the Penang State Government, the festival is supported by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) and Penang Global Tourism (PGT), with Dreamz Productions Events Management Sdn Bhd acting as festival manager.
“With PIFF @Tanjong 2025, we are not only celebrating food but also showcasing Tanjong’s vibrant identity as a living heritage and cultural hub,” said Lim Hui Ying.
Dates & Venues:
- 1–2 November: Sia Boey (9 am–5 pm) & Armenian Park (5 pm–11 pm)
- 8–9 November: COEX Kilang Besi (Hin Bus Depot) with “Creative & Curated F&B” (11 am–7 pm) & Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal with “Seafood & Grill Zone” (4 pm–11 pm)
- 15–16 November: Grand Finale at Beach Street (4 pm–11 pm)
Featured Food & Culture: Visitors can indulge in signature Penang hawker fare including asam laksa, char kuey teow, apam balik, roti canai, ais kacang and more.
Entertainment & Activities: From live band performances and mask‑changing acts to street art décor and night market vibes, Armenian Park was transformed into a vibrant venue filled with sights, sounds and scents of Penang’s food culture.
Significance
The festival is positioned as a major draw in Penang’s year-end tourism calendar, with the State Tourism & Creative Economy Committee Chairman Wong Hon Wai describing it as “the gateway to Penang’s golden tourism season.” By spreading the event over three distinct weekends and multiple venues, the organisers aim to highlight Penang’s food heritage, creative economy and heritage conservation simultaneously.
