Political Analysts Predict Cabinet Reshuffle by Anwar Ibrahim After Sabah State Election

KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News Political analysts predict that Malaysia’s Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is likely to carry out a cabinet reshuffle in early December 2025, following the conclusion of the Sabah state election scheduled for 29 November.

Observers note that the reshuffle is expected to fill several key vacancies and strengthen the stability of the federal administration, while reallocating ministers according to performance and current national priorities.

Anwar is reported to be reviewing the performance of each ministry, including the effectiveness of economic and social development policies, before making any official decisions. Analysts also highlight that the reshuffle may involve reassigning ministers to strategic portfolios to enhance overall governance efficiency.

“We expect some new faces to emerge, while existing ministers may be assigned portfolios that better match their expertise,” said a local political analyst.

The reshuffle is also seen as a move to reorganize cohesion within the ruling coalition and maintain parliamentary majority support, particularly after the Sabah polls, which often serve as a benchmark for national politics.

The government is expected to announce the changes officially through a press statement by the Prime Minister once the internal review is completed. Analysts note that the cabinet reshuffle will not only impact the domestic political landscape but could also influence investor confidence and public trust in the government’s stability.

The Sabah state election is anticipated to be a critical factor in determining the composition and timing of the cabinet reshuffle, as it reflects public support for the coalition’s leadership.
