UN Security Council to Vote on Trump’s Gaza Peace Plan

NEW YORK, El Sky News – The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is set to vote on a proposed peace plan for Gaza, initiated by former U.S. President Donald Trump. The 20-point plan aims to address the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict and establish a framework for governance, security, and potential Palestinian statehood.

According to official UNSC sources, the resolution includes the following key provisions:

  1. Establishment of a Temporary “Board of Peace”: A multi-national governing body tasked with overseeing Gaza until the end of 2027 & the Board will manage administrative functions, reconstruction efforts, and coordinate humanitarian aid.
  2. Deployment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF): Composed of troops from the United States, Israel, Egypt, and other member states & the ISF will maintain border security, support demilitarization, and ensure stability in Gaza.
  3. Pathway Towards a Future Palestinian State: While the plan does not immediately create a Palestinian state, it acknowledges the potential for statehood in the future as part of the peace process

U.S. representatives have emphasized that supporting the resolution is critical to preventing further escalation in Gaza. Officials warned that failure to back the plan could be interpreted as enabling Hamas and risking renewed conflict.

“The international community must act decisively. This resolution is a chance to stabilize Gaza and offer hope for Palestinians,” said a U.S. diplomat at a press briefing in New York.

The plan has received backing from several Arab and Muslim-majority countries, including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Pakistan, and Indonesia, signaling broad regional support. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has faced domestic pushback from right-wing allies, who argue that the proposal threatens Israel’s security and sovereignty. Analysts note that the upcoming vote is pivotal. Approval could pave the way for international intervention and long-term stability in Gaza, while rejection may exacerbate tensions in the region. The vote is scheduled to take place later this week at the UNSC headquarters in New York.
