Four Sentenced to 10 Years for Gang Robbery at Kuching Hotel

Sarawak, El Sky News – Three men and one woman were sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Kuching Sessions Court for a gang robbery at a hotel in Kuching. The three men were also ordered to receive five strokes of the cane each.

The robbery took place on the night of 13 November 2025 at Batu 3, Kuching, when the victim was in his hotel room with a woman known as “Bella.” One of the suspects pretended to be Bella’s husband to intimidate the victim before stealing his car keys, identification card, and mobile phone, and fleeing in the victim’s vehicle.

The convicted individuals are:

  • Mohd Ikmarruddin Adery, 30
  • Mohd Farus Junaidi, 30
  • Zaidi Majani, 37
  • Nor Atiesya Mohamad Effindy, 30 (female)

They were charged under Section 395 of the Penal Code (gang robbery). The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Asmawi Nur Haqim Mokhtar. The court emphasized that the prison and caning sentences serve as a stern warning against gang robberies and the use of deception to intimidate victims.

This case highlights that gang robbery involving psychological manipulation is a serious crime, and courts will take firm action against perpetrators.
