Sabah, El Sky News – Barisan Nasional (BN) has declared its readiness to support the formation of Sabah’s new state government following the 2025 state elections, aiming to promote political stability and cooperation among local parties.
Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, Secretary-General of UMNO, expressed gratitude to the party’s election teams for their efforts and confirmed that BN is prepared to assist in establishing the state administration. In the recent elections, BN secured six seats, while Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) maintained its position as the largest bloc with 29 out of 73 state assembly seats.
BN President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi emphasized the party’s commitment to the welfare of Sabah’s residents and its willingness to collaborate with like-minded parties to ensure a stable government. Political analysts view BN’s support as a strategic step to influence governance and maintain relevance in the state’s post-election landscape.
With BN’s backing, coalition-building efforts are expected to accelerate, and upcoming negotiations will be key in determining Sabah’s next government leadership.
