KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News – The issue of the departure of the legendary local rock band, Wings’, bass player and drummer, Eddie and Black, from the group that popularized the song “Sejati,” continues to draw the attention of fans.
Commenting on the official decision of these two core members, Wings’ vocalist, Datuk Awie, came forward to share his calm and accepting perspective. Awie revealed that he accepted the departure with an open heart and always included both of his friends in his prayers.
“They are in My Prayers and Supplications”
In his statement, Awie did not hide his affection for Eddie and Black, who have long struggled alongside him in Wings.
“The two of them are part of Wings’ history and journey. I never forget our ups and downs together. I always pray for their well-being and success in whatever direction they choose,” said Awie.
He also emphasized the importance of their friendship, even if they are no longer on the same stage. “In every supplication, they are in my prayers. That is more than everything,” he said, giving deep emotional emphasis to their bond.
Clarification on Previous Concert’s Allegory
Meanwhile, Awie also took the opportunity to clarify the confusion arising from his speech during the final segment of a recent concert organized by Rumah Produksi Merah (RPM).
Before the official announcement of Eddie and Black’s departure, Awie’s speech, which was full of allegory, and his choice of certain songs, had sparked speculation and assumption that he was subtly criticizing the two members involved.
“It was just a coincidence in the song arrangement that felt appropriate to express a little feeling. I stress, it was not meant to criticize anyone or have a hidden agenda,” Awie further explained. He hoped that this issue would no longer be exaggerated, and the focus should now be given to the future career directions of all of them.
For the record, the official departure of Eddie and Black from Wings was announced on October 8, 2025. This development will certainly bring a change of winds to the formation and performances of the group Wings in the future.
