Pakatan Harapan Prioritizes Institutional Reforms, To Hold Convention in Q1 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, El Sky News – The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council has concluded its meeting by resolving to push forward with a more assertive focus on institutional reforms in the immediate future. The council, chaired by PH Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, also undertook a deep analysis of the recent Sabah State Election (PRN) results.

🏛️ Institutional Reforms Top Priority

Communication Director of PH, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, confirmed that the coalition’s leadership agreed that matters pertaining to institutional reforms must be prioritized and pursued more rigorously.

“The council deliberated on efforts to implement the coalition’s manifesto and institutional reforms over the three years of governing the country,” Fahmi said in a statement.

This move signals a recommitment by the ruling coalition to its reform agenda, which has been a cornerstone of its political platform.

🗳️ Sabah Poll Results Scrutinized

The meeting also dedicated significant time to studying the outcomes of the 17th Sabah State Election, held on November 29. The discussion aimed to understand the coalition’s performance and position in the state.

PH saw a measure of success in the state, particularly with its candidate, Datuk Jamawi Ja’afar, securing the Melalap State Assembly (DUN) seat with a majority of 525 votes, triumphing over seven other challengers.

🎯 PH Convention Set for Early 2026

To solidify the coalition’s direction, the Presidential Council decided to convene a PH Convention in the first quarter of 2026.

The purpose of this convention will be to clearly define the priority focus areas for reform efforts and establish the national direction for the upcoming two years. Additionally, the Council discussed wider issues related to government governance and the development of the people’s economy.
