Bersatu Perak Divisions Call for Muhyiddin’s Resignation Amidst Party Crisis

IPOH, El Sky News – A significant challenge to the leadership of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, emerged today as the leadership of 14 Perak Bersatu divisions jointly called for his immediate resignation. The unprecedented move is aimed at facilitating a “party renewal process” to save Bersatu from further decline.

🛑 Key Demands and Concerns

The group, representing 14 out of the state’s divisions, unanimously expressed deep concern over the party’s prolonged internal turmoil and poor electoral performance.

  • Accountability for Losses: Spokesperson for the group and Pasir Salak Bersatu Division Chief, Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin, asserted that Muhyiddin must take full responsibility for the continuous crises, particularly the party’s recent losses in the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN Sabah).
  • “Personal Issues” as Liability: Zainol Fadzi claimed that personal issues involving the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Chairman have become a significant liability to the party, leading to a public rejection of both Bersatu and the PN coalition.
  • Fear of GE16 Rejection: The division leaders warned that if the leadership change is not executed immediately, Bersatu risks being rejected in all contested areas during the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16). “The President must be open-hearted and have a great spirit. We hope Tan Sri will hear our grievances and complaints,” Zainol Fadzi stated.
  • Questioning Disciplinary Actions: The dissenting leaders also questioned the actions of the Bersatu Disciplinary Board, specifically citing the suspension and recent expulsion of several key figures, including Ipoh Timur Bersatu Division Chief, Muhammad Fadhli Ismail, who was sacked on October 14.
