Pinisi Ship Dewi Anjani Sinks in Labuan Bajo Waters on Monday Morning (29/12/2025)

LABUAN BAJO, El Sky News — A pinisi ship named Dewi Anjani sank near Pink Dock, not far from Marina Waterfront Labuan Bajo, Manggarai Barat, East Nusa Tenggara, on Monday morning, 29 December 2025. The incident was confirmed by local authorities after videos of the sinking circulated widely on social media.

The ship, which was moored at the dock, reportedly tilted and gradually submerged. According to witnesses, the vessel sank slowly without signs of external damage or strong waves. Preliminary reports from the Labuan Bajo Port Authority (KSOP) suggest that water entered the hull and was not properly managed, as the crew members were asleep and bilge pumps were not activated, causing the ship to lose buoyancy and eventually sink. Heavy overnight rain likely accelerated the flooding.

Initial reports indicate no casualties. All crew members are reportedly safe, though authorities are still verifying the number of crew aboard at the time of sinking. Authorities emphasized the need for strict safety procedures, including proper crew monitoring and weather advisories, especially for tourism-related vessels in Labuan Bajo. The incident adds to recent maritime accidents in the area, highlighting the importance of safety regulations and disaster preparedness.
