BUKIT MERTAJAM, El Sky News – Police have arrested a man and seized approximately 4,550 milliliters (ml) of suspected syabu liquid valued at RM45,500 during a raid at a house in Bukit Minyak, Bukit Mertajam, on Saturday night, 4 January 2026. The operation was carried out after narcotics intelligence units received information about drug distribution activities in the area over the past few weeks.
Raid and Seizure Details
According to Seberang Perai Tengah District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Helmi Aris, the raid was conducted around 10:20 p.m. at a residential property. Police discovered 130 vape cartridges filled with the suspected syabu liquid, totaling 4,550 ml enough to supply approximately 300 users.
The raid also resulted in the seizure of additional assets, including two cars and jewelry such as rings, necklaces, and bracelets, with an estimated total value of RM429,500, bringing the total value of confiscated items to RM475,000.
Legal Action
The suspect, a 45-year-old man with prior records related to drugs and criminal offenses, tested negative for drugs in a preliminary urine test. He is remanded for seven days until 10 January 2026 to assist in the investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which prescribes heavy penalties for possession and distribution of drugs.
The police have urged the public to come forward with information regarding drug activities to help ongoing investigations.
