Siti Nurhaliza’s Iconic Green Songket Gown: A Tribute to Perak Tradition with a Modern Twist

KUALA LUMPUR – The grand finale of Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza’s Legacy 30 Concert at Bukit Jalil National Stadium was not only a celebration of three decades of musical excellence but also a historic milestone for Malacca-based fashion house, Bianca Bella.

The boutique’s green songket creation, which stole the spotlight during the concert’s closing segment, has become a trending topic for its exquisite blend of heritage and contemporary design.

Royal Inspiration and Craftsmanship

The gown was inspired by the traditional attire of the Puteri Perak (Perak Princess), reimagined with a modern “Miss World” aesthetic. Crafted from local songket, the masterpiece featured intricate hand-sewn beadwork designed to shimmer under the massive stage lights.

Amirul Safwan Nordin, co-founder of Bianca Bella, revealed that the design process was a collaborative effort with Siti’s team to ensure the outfit was not only visually stunning but also functional. “The most important aspect was the cut, which had to accommodate Siti’s movements and choreography on a grand stage,” he said.

The Pressure of Perfection

Preparation for the gown took nearly a month of sleepless nights for the 10-person team. The pressure was immense, as they were tasked with creating the ensemble for the concert’s most anticipated segment.

The hard work paid off when the attire received high praise during the full rehearsal, including a personal compliment from Siti’s husband, Datuk Seri Khalid Mohamad Jiwa, who lauded the craftsmanship and luxury of the material.

A Humble Legend

Beyond the fashion, the designers shared a touching anecdote about the legendary singer’s humility. During the final preparations, Siti Nurhaliza reportedly offered to bring her own sewing machine from home to assist the team with any last-minute alterations.

“It is rare for a national icon of her stature to offer such help. That is exactly why she is so well-loved,” the designers shared emotionally.

Following the success of this collaboration, Bianca Bella plans to expand its horizons by launching a modern songket collection for brides, aiming to bring their Malaccan craftsmanship to a wider national audience. (Kayla Shabirah)
