KINABATANGAN, El Sky News – The joint campaign between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) for the Kinabatangan Parliamentary and Lamag State by-elections has officially entered its final, high-intensity phase, described by candidates as shifting into “fifth gear.”
Final Sprint to Victory With only two days remaining before voters head to the polls this Saturday, BN candidate Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar is intensifying efforts to secure every possible vote. Speaking to reporters after a community talk in Suan Lamba on Wednesday, Naim emphasized that the campaign has now entered its most critical stage.
“We are in the final sprint to ensure we defend this parliamentary seat. I will continue to campaign until the very last minute to ensure a convincing victory,” said Naim, who is also the Kinabatangan UMNO Youth Chief.
Strategic Grassroots Reach Naim, popularly known as Naim Moktar, confirmed that his team has successfully covered all 27 Polling Districts (PDM) across the constituency. The 12-day campaign period, which began on January 10, has seen a blend of large-scale rallies and smaller group sessions to maintain a personal connection with the grassroots.
The by-election was triggered following the passing of the incumbent and long-time representative, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, on December 5 last year.
Strong Unity Within Sabah’s Unity Government The campaign has been bolstered by a strong show of unity between federal and state partners. Sukau GRS Division Chief, Datuk Juhari Janan, expressed his confidence that the seamless cooperation between BN and GRS would not only secure a win for Naim but potentially increase the majority compared to the 15th General Election (GE15).
“Insya-Allah, we are confident and we pray that the commitment shown by all component parties under the Sabah Unity Government will translate into a solid mandate this Saturday,” Juhari added.
The Election Commission (SPR) expects the results for both the Kinabatangan and Lamag seats to be announced as early as 10:00 PM this Saturday, January 24
