KUALA LUMPUR– A high-speed police chase ended in a fatal accident on Wednesday, leaving one woman dead and another seriously injured. Both individuals are suspected of being involved in drug trafficking activities.
The incident occurred in the afternoon when a police patrol unit spotted a suspicious vehicle in the area. When signaled to stop for inspection, the driver accelerated, leading to a pursuit that spanned several kilometers through local roads.
According to Kelantan Police Chief, the chase ended tragically when the suspects’ vehicle lost control and crashed into a roadside structure. The impact of the collision resulted in the immediate death of one of the women at the scene.
“Our preliminary investigation suggests that the suspects were attempting to evade capture while transporting a significant quantity of illegal substances,” the Police Chief stated.
Upon searching the wreckage, officers discovered various types of drugs concealed within the vehicle. The second woman, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to the nearest hospital for emergency treatment and remains under police guard.
The deceased’s remains have been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the case is currently being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 as well as traffic-related offenses. Authorities are also working to determine if the duo is part of a larger drug distribution syndicate operating in the state.
