Trailer Attendant Killed in Collision Between Two Heavy Vehicles on North-South Expressway

KUALA LUMPUR – A tragic accident involving two heavy vehicles at KM 293.1 of the North-South Expressway (Northbound) early this morning resulted in the death of a trailer attendant.

The Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received an emergency call regarding the collision at approximately 4:15 AM. A rescue team from the Simpang Pulai Fire Station was immediately dispatched to the location to carry out extrication works.

According to a department spokesperson, the accident involved a trailer carrying a load of cement and another heavy vehicle. The victim, a 24-year-old local man who was the attendant of the cement trailer, was found pinned in the passenger seat due to the severe impact of the crash.

“Firefighters used specialized hydraulic equipment to release the victim from the wreckage. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical officers from the Ministry of Health,” the spokesperson stated.

The driver of the trailer sustained minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the driver of the other vehicle involved escaped unharmed.

The operation ended at around 6:00 AM after the debris was cleared to ensure the safety of other road users. The police are currently investigating the cause of the accident, including the possibility of mechanical failure or driver fatigue.
