‘Nur’ Actress and Husband Remanded Over Alleged RM1.5 Million Land Scam

KUALA LUMPUR – A popular actress, best known for her role in the hit drama series Nur, and her husband have been placed under a three-day remand to assist in investigations involving a fraudulent land deal amounting to RM1.5 million.

The remand order was granted by the Seremban Magistrate’s Court following an application by the police to facilitate a probe under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

Seremban District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Azahar Abdul Rahim, confirmed that the couple, aged in their 30s and 40s, were apprehended at a premises in Hulu Langat, Selangor. The arrest took place at a location believed to be their hideout.

“The arrests followed a police report lodged by a 56-year-old property developer who claimed to have been deceived in an arrangement to acquire government-granted land (tanah kurnia) in Selangor,” ACP Azahar stated.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim was approached in September 2023 with an offer for several land lots in the Cheras district. The victim allegedly performed multiple bank transfers into accounts belonging to the actress and her father-in-law to secure the promised land titles.

As she was being escorted by police at the courthouse, the actress briefly addressed the media, urging for factual reporting. “Please write only what is true. Do not write unverified stories. Thank you,” she said.

The case gained further attention following claims from a local beauty entrepreneur who also alleged to be a victim of the couple, claiming losses of hundreds of thousands of ringgit in separate dealings.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the full extent of the operation and whether other individuals were involved in the transaction.
