KUALA LUMPUR, March 7 — A nine-year-old boy was found dead after a fire destroyed a two-storey house in Taman Sentosa Indah, Sri Aman, Sarawak, in the early hours of the morning.
According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department, the blaze broke out at around 3am, with emergency responders receiving a distress call at approximately 3.02am. Firefighters from the Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station were immediately dispatched to the scene to contain the fire and assist victims trapped inside the house.
Firefighters Rush to Rescue Victims
Authorities said that four individuals were inside the house when the fire started, prompting urgent rescue efforts by the firefighting team. Upon arrival, firefighters found the building already engulfed in flames.
After the blaze was brought under control, rescuers discovered the body of the nine-year-old boy on the upper floor of the house. The child was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe burn injuries.
The tragic discovery shocked both rescue workers and local residents, as the fire had spread rapidly throughout the property.
Elderly Victim Suffers Severe Burns
In addition to the fatality, a 64-year-old man sustained serious injuries during the incident. Authorities reported that the victim suffered burns covering about 80 per cent of his body and was rushed for medical treatment.
Emergency teams worked quickly to ensure other occupants were safely evacuated from the burning structure.

Fire officials have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze, including whether it may have been triggered by electrical faults or other hazards within the home.
