Dawn Rescue in Kedah: Firefighters Free Woman Trapped in SUV After Baling Crash

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 — Firefighters carried out a delicate rescue operation early this morning to save a woman who became trapped inside her vehicle following a road accident in Baling.

The incident occurred at around 1.26am in Kampung Padang Setol, Tawar, when a Proton X50 SUV driven by a 56-year-old woman collided with a Ford Ranger pickup truck. The crash left the woman pinned inside her vehicle after her legs became trapped in the wreckage.

Firefighters Rush to the Scene

According to officials from the local Fire and Rescue Department, a team of six firefighters from the Baling Fire and Rescue Station responded to an emergency call and rushed to the accident site.

The team was led by operations officer Mohamad Afirul Md Nasir and immediately began assessing the situation upon arrival.

Authorities reported that the female driver was trapped in the damaged SUV with injuries to her legs, requiring careful extraction to avoid worsening her condition.

Careful Extrication Operation

Firefighters used specialised rescue tools and hydraulic equipment to free the victim from the wrecked vehicle.

The operation required careful coordination as rescuers worked to stabilise the vehicle and remove parts of the damaged structure before safely extracting the woman.

Officials said the male driver of the Ford Ranger, aged 57, was not trapped in the crash and did not suffer serious injuries.

Victim Sent for Medical Treatment

After being freed from the SUV, the injured woman was handed over to medical personnel for further treatment.

Authorities said the woman was reportedly travelling toward Kulim, while the driver of the pickup truck was heading toward Sungai Petani at the time of the collision.

Rescue Operation Concludes Before Dawn

Firefighters spent nearly an hour managing the situation and ensuring the scene was safe before concluding the rescue mission.

The operation was officially completed at 4.33am, bringing the early morning emergency response to an end.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the cause of the accident, and investigations into the crash are expected to continue.
