IPOH, March 30 — A man was found dead inside his home in Ipoh after neighbours alerted authorities about a strong unpleasant smell coming from the property, prompting police to investigate the situation.
According to local authorities, the body of the 52-year-old Malaysian man was discovered in a house located in Taman Kledang Jaya after members of the public contacted the police about the foul odour that had been lingering around the area. The report led officers to conduct an inspection at the residence, where they eventually made the discovery.
Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the police received the information from concerned neighbours who suspected something was wrong after noticing the strong smell coming from the house. Officers arrived at the scene and found the man’s body at around 11:26 a.m. following the tip-off.
Preliminary investigations conducted at the location did not reveal any evidence of criminal activity. Authorities believe that the death was not linked to foul play and that the man likely died due to health-related causes.
Police also revealed that the deceased had a history of chronic illnesses, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. In addition, he had previously suffered a mild stroke and had been undergoing regular medical follow-ups at a nearby healthcare facility for treatment and monitoring of his condition.
Investigators said the presence of the strong smell likely indicated that the man had been dead for some time before the body was discovered.
