Kelantan Police Deny Claims Teen Murder Suspect Linked to Influential Police Family

KUALA LUMPUR, May, 2026 — Police in Kelantan have firmly denied circulating claims that one of the teenage suspects in a high-profile murder case in Ketereh comes from an influential police family.

According to authorities, viral allegations suggesting that the suspect’s father is a retired police officer with strong connections are completely false.

Police Reject Viral Claims

Kota Bharu police chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azmir Damiri, clarified that the suspect’s father is actually a retiree from a different government agency and has no ties to the police force.

He stressed that claims of “powerful connections” influencing the investigation are baseless and misleading. Authorities have urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that could disrupt the investigation.

Ongoing Murder Investigation

The case involves the brutal killing of a 19-year-old female college student, whose body was discovered in Ketereh with 61 stab wounds, shocking the local community.
