Statue of Liberty Replica in Brazil Collapses After Being Hit by 90 Km/h Gale Winds

SÃO PAULO, El Sky News – A well-known replica of the Statue of Liberty located in Brazil has reportedly collapsed after the region was struck by fierce gale-force winds.

The incident, which occurred on Monday evening (December 15) local time, involved the iconic American landmark’s replica, which was erected as a business landmark in a Brazilian city.

Authorities confirmed that the statue was unable to withstand wind speeds reaching 90 kilometres per hour (km/h), leading to the collapse of the replica’s structure.

No casualties or serious injuries were reported in the shocking incident. However, images of the collapsed statue quickly went viral across social media, garnering widespread attention.

The fall of the Statue of Liberty replica will now be investigated to determine the exact cause of the structural failure and whether it met the safety standards required to endure severe weather conditions.

The original Statue of Liberty, a gift from the people of France to the United States, stands firm on Liberty Island, New York, and rarely suffers serious damage due to extreme weather.

This incident in Brazil serves as a reminder to the authorities responsible for public monuments and structures to ensure building resilience, especially in areas exposed to climate change and extreme weather.
