Prabowo Warns of Growing Global Threat of World War III, Says Nuclear Conflict Would Affect All Countries

Kuala Lumpu, El Sky News President Prabowo Subianto issued a stark warning about the increasing global concern over the possibility of a Third World War, during the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of Central and Regional Governments held in Sentul, Bogor, West Java.

Prabowo said that the world is facing growing fears of a new world war due to escalating geopolitical tensions. He emphasized that even countries not directly involved in conflict, such as Indonesia, could suffer serious consequences if a large-scale war—especially one involving nuclear weapons—were to break out.

He highlighted findings from global simulations suggesting that a nuclear conflict would have far-reaching impacts across borders, including widespread radioactive contamination and long-term environmental damage. “Even if we are not directly involved, we will still be exposed to radioactive particles,” Prabowo explained. Such a war could trigger a “nuclear winter,” potentially blocking sunlight for years and affecting ecosystems and food supplies worldwide.

In response to these rising risks, Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to a free and active foreign policy and a non-aligned stance—choosing diplomatic engagement and cooperation over military alignment. He said that this approach reflects Indonesia’s constitutional principles and its historical legacy, and stressed the need for national preparedness and self-reliance in safeguarding the country’s security.

Prabowo made clear that Indonesia does not seek war, but must remain vigilant and ready to protect its people should global instability escalate further.
