Kuala Lumpur – US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will begin a special operation to assist in freeing ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz, starting Monday morning.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the US has informed several involved countries that it is ready to escort their vessels safely out of the restricted waterway.
“We have told these countries that we will guide their ships safely out of this restricted waterway,” he said.
He named the operation ‘Project Freedom’, aimed at safely guiding the affected ships out of the area.
Trump also revealed that US representatives held very positive discussions with Iran, expressing confidence that the talks could lead to a very positive outcome for all parties. However, he did not name the countries whose ships are stranded, describing them only as neutral and innocent parties caught in the current situation.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital route for global oil trade, and any disruption in the area could have a significant impact on worldwide energy supplies.
‘Project Freedom’ is expected to commence on Monday morning, West Asia time. Further developments will be closely monitored.
