SUBANG JAYA, El Sky News – Proton has officially rolled out a significant software update for its first electric vehicle, the e.MAS 7, introducing the highly anticipated Android Auto connectivity. This update marks a major milestone for the national automaker as it enhances the digital experience for Android smartphone users.
Seamless Connectivity
While Apple CarPlay was available at launch, the addition of Android Auto completes the smartphone integration suite for the EV. The feature is delivered wirelessly, allowing drivers to sync their navigation, music, and messaging apps to the 15.4-inch 2.5K infotainment screen without the need for physical cables.
Software Version 1.1.2
The new functionality is part of the v1.1.2 firmware update, which is being distributed to owners via Over-the-Air (OTA) technology. Key highlights of this update include:
- Wireless Integration: Full support for Android Auto via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
- System Stability: Refinements to the Flyme Auto operating system for smoother performance.
- UI Enhancements: Minor tweaks to the user interface to improve app accessibility while driving.
User Experience at the Core
The implementation of OTA updates allows Proton to improve the vehicle’s features post-purchase, a strategy common among premium EV manufacturers. Owners of the e.MAS 7 Prime and Ultra variants will receive a notification on their head units to initiate the download.
This move is expected to bolster the e.MAS 7’s appeal in the competitive Malaysian EV market, where tech-savvy consumers prioritize seamless software ecosystems alongside driving range and performance.
